2020 Vision in Retro
An art studio with excellent light and space is a boon in times such as 2020. It is a place to be contemplative, to be creative, to be safe. It is a place of hope, where the artist can seek insight into the suffering and the joy of the world and conjure a response to these phenomena. The studio is a sanctuary at any times, but especially in times of trouble.
I wish to express my deep sadness at the loss of so many lives to the pandemic this year. Perhaps different decisions by many, decisions based on compassion and community, may have given us a safer path; however, it is done now, and the journey's end is only a vague mirage in the distance.
At the same time, there is joy to be found in the generation of so much compassion, on the renewal of community awareness, on the surge of altruism and kindness, acceptance and understanding in some parts of the world. This promises a better future, in which we care more for each other and the planet than we do for possessions and gain
Here's to a better future. We are capable of it. We can create it.
